Why Us
Yunnan has always been more than a destination.
For centuries, this land has been a meeting place of mountains, rivers, tea routes, ancient towns, ethnic cultures, and quiet village life. Caravans once crossed its valleys. Traders carried tea, horses, salt, stories, and songs through its mountain paths. Today, many travelers come to Yunnan for its scenery - the snow mountains, blue lakes, rice terraces, tea forests, old towns, and tropical landscapes. But we believe the true beauty of Yunnan lives deeper than what can be captured in a photo.
Stay Yunnan was founded by a team of people born and raised here.
We grew up with these mountains, seasons, local flavors, and stories. We know the quiet side of Dali beyond Erhai Lake, the living culture behind Lijiang's old streets, the sacred atmosphere of Shangri-La, and the tropical rhythm of Xishuangbanna. We know where to find a peaceful morning market, a family-run kitchen, a local craft workshop, a hidden village road, or a view that only appears at the right time of day.
Over time, we have helped travelers from around the world explore Yunnan in a more personal and meaningful way. Some came for nature, some came for culture, some came with family, and some came simply because they wanted to see a different side of China. What they discovered was not only beautiful scenery, but also real people, living traditions, and unforgettable moments of connection.
We do not simply design trips. We create journeys that connect people with place.
Yunnan is incredibly diverse. One journey can take you from the snow mountains of the north to the lakeside towns of Dali, from the ancient streets of Lijiang to the Tibetan culture of Shangri-La, from the rice terraces of Honghe to the rainforest and Dai villages of Xishuangbanna.
Because we are local, we understand not only where to go, but when to go, how to get there, what to avoid, and how to experience each place with more depth. We know which places are worth the journey, which popular spots are best visited at a quieter hour, and which hidden corners can make a trip feel truly special.
Our local knowledge helps travelers see beyond the standard route and experience Yunnan with more ease, comfort, and authenticity.
Yunnan is home to many ethnic groups, each with its own language, dress, food, festivals, music, architecture, and way of life. This cultural diversity is one of the most unique parts of traveling here.
With Stay Yunnan, your journey can go beyond sightseeing. You may learn traditional tie-dye in Dali, visit a local tea village, taste handmade regional food, explore ancient towns with real historical context, experience Dai culture in Xishuangbanna, discover Tibetan traditions in Shangri-La, or walk through villages where daily life still moves at its own rhythm.
We believe the most memorable travel moments often happen in small details: a conversation with a local family, the smell of fresh tea, the sound of temple bells, the colors of handmade cloth, or a quiet road between mountains and villages.
These are the moments we want to share.
Every traveler comes to Yunnan with a different dream.
Some want a comfortable family holiday. Some want photography, culture, and ancient towns. Some want hiking, mountains, and wild landscapes. Some want a slower journey with tea, food, villages, and local life. Others are visiting China for the first time and need everything to feel smooth, clear, and well arranged.
That is why our trips are not one-size-fits-all.
We help design each journey based on your travel style, time, interests, comfort level, and pace. From route planning and transportation to local experiences, hotels, cultural activities, and practical travel support, we help make your Yunnan journey easier, warmer, and more personal.
Our purpose is simple: to share the Yunnan we know and love with the world.
Not just the postcard version. Not only the famous landmarks. But the real Yunnan - diverse, soulful, ancient, alive, and unlike anywhere else in China.
