For centuries, this land has been a meeting place of mountains, rivers, tea routes, ancient towns, ethnic cultures, and quiet village life. Caravans once crossed its valleys. Traders carried tea, horses, salt, stories, and songs through its mountain paths. Today, many travelers come to Yunnan for its scenery - the snow mountains, blue lakes, rice terraces, tea forests, old towns, and tropical landscapes. But we believe the true beauty of Yunnan lives deeper than what can be captured in a photo.
Stay Yunnan was founded by people born and raised here. Across our team, we have studied at leading institutions in Asia, Europe, and North America, including Harvard University, the University of Oxford, Northwestern University, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
We grew up with these mountains, seasons, local flavors, and stories. We know the quiet side of Dali beyond Erhai Lake, the living culture behind Lijiang's old streets, the sacred atmosphere of Shangri-La, and the tropical rhythm of Xishuangbanna. We know where to find a peaceful morning market, a family-run kitchen, a local craft workshop, a hidden village road, or a view that only appears at the right time of day.
